About the rasta
Make sure to think about it...
...before you jump into it!
Having a rastafarian hair does not mean you can stop caring about your hair... You might not need to comb it on a day to day basis but you have to look after it all the same. You have to WASH it reguraly or your dreadlocks are going to become a huge mess. It also needs to be twisted into shape, entangled locks must be torn apart, runaway hair strings must be worked back into the locks etc.
Healthy skin is a must before having your hair done! If your scalp has even a minor fungal infection or dandruff bothers you constantly, treating it is a must (with special medical shampoo)! Under thick dreadlocks these minor problems can worsen quickly...

The making of dreadlocks...
...is not a pleasant experience! The technique involved in the making of dreadlocks pulls on your scalp. It might even cause your skin to turn red around the roots of your hair, therefore it is essential NOT to scratch it at least for a few days, otherwise it could cause more dandruff to appear.
It is advised not to wash it before we start to work on your hair, except if it has a tendecy to become oily. It is hard to create the dreadlocks if the hair is oily or too silky bacuse of balsam overdose The dryer, the better! I recommend using WU2 shampoo or normal soap to wash your hair beforehand. If it did not start to get entangled already, please arrive well combed! Further advice can be found under „Dreadlock hair care”.
Quality work takes time. More time and tighter locks translate into durability and natural look. The making of just one lock of hair takes 15-40 minutes. In case of shorter hair ( short, but at least 15 cm), it must be taken into account that in the first few days/weeks your locks are going to look more like Sonic the hedgehog’s than anything else! The locks must be made this way to avoid entanglement. Don’t worry, this stage does not last long and in case of long hair, this problem does not even occur.
First step: discussion. You need to decide how many and how thick dreadlocks you want. For men I recommend thicker, for women a bit thinner for a more feminin look. The dreadlocks can have the same thickness or if you want them to seemingly natural, they can be of differtent gridth. Some people choose to have just a flew locks here and there, others want the locks to cover only the back of their heads. If you decide to have such a mixed style, make sure to avoid washing the dreads too often with shampoo, that could easily ruin them.
When we are over discussing the details, I’ll start by senctioning your hair and prepare it for the most annoying and irritating parts of the procedures: combing and entangling your hair into dreads with a small metal comb. I’ll finish up with a lot of palm rolling to tighten the dreads.
Concerning the ends of your hair, there are two options: either we comb it back into the dreads or leave them hanging free. I recommend the first option for men and the second one for women. As mentioned before, the whole procedure, depending on your timetable, could take a few days or weeks. So, if you want numerous or longer locks, you must be prepared to meet me multiple times.

If your hair is not long enough...
_...but you wish for really long dreadlocks, there is a possibility! Though dreads need patience and time to grow into beautiful locks, it is understandable if you do not want to wait years for it to reach the desired lenght. This is where hair extensions come into the picture. They are easy to come by and good to work with, though it is essential that we use real hair. Hair extensions made of real hair are more expensive but come with many adventages: they can be colored and attached to your hair perfectly, nobody is going to notice the difference. With additional palm rolling even the slightest transitions can be made disappear. Quality dreadlock extensios make excellent, lasting, and decorative hairstyle!
